Rules & Regulations

Eligibility:

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN A PRIZE. ONLY ONE ENTRY PER PERSON WILL BE ACCEPTED.

The Contest is open to those that are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry. Contestants must be McGill graduates. The Contest is not open to McGill University employees, nor any person involved in selecting the prize winners or with whom they are domiciled.

How to enter the contest:

Entry forms can be completed online: alumni.mcgill.ca/update-info. In addition to completing the online form, participants must also like and save the post, follow @McGillAlumni and tag two McGill friends in the comment section.

Contest Deadline:

The deadline for entering the contest is 11:59 p.m. EST on Friday, May 31, 2024. Entries received after that time will not be eligible to participate in the contest.

Draw:

Three (3) potential winners will be randomly selected from the comment section on Monday, June 3, 2024. The odds of being randomly selected to win a Prize depend on the total number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period. The Prizes (three in total) are printed McGill News posters. The draw will take place in Montreal, Province of Quebec. Within five (5) business days following the draw, each of the potential winners will be contacted via social media direct message and will be notified that they are eligible to win a Prize. If one of the potential winners fails to respond to the Prize Notification within five (5) business days thereof, or does not comply with these official Rules and Regulations, the Prize will be automatically forfeited and another potential winner will be selected by random draw. Return of any Prize Notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification and an alternate potential winner may be selected by random draw.

Prizes:

The prizes are three (3) printed McGill News posters.

Date of the draw:

The draw will take place in Montreal, Province of Quebec and three (3) potential winners will be randomly selected on Monday, June 3, 2024, by 5:00 p.m. EST.

Contacting the winners:

Within five (5) business days following the draw, each of the potential winners will be contacted via Instagram/Facebook and notified that they are eligible to win a Prize.

Prize delivery information:

Prizes will be delivered to the winner by mail (to the mailing address provided when they are notified that they have won a prize), or they can claim their prize in person at: 1555 Peel Street, Montreal, QC by July 8, 2024.

Skill-testing question:

Before being declared a winner, a selected entrant must correctly answer a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question, administered online, at a time mutually agreed by the entrant and McGill University.

Privacy Statement & Consent:

In compliance with the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information (R.S.Q. c. A-2.1), any personal information that McGill University collects, including through a contest, will be handled in a confidential manner, by authorized staff, and for the purpose for which it was collected. McGill University will collect and maintain the information provided by Contest entrants for the purpose of managing its relationship with alumni, including communications about University news, invitations, fundraising, and special offers available to alumni and friends of the University. McGill University will not disclose personal information to third parties, except as required by law or a court, or when having a third party perform services, in which case confidentiality clauses will ensure protection of personal information.  By completing the entry form for the Contest, an entrant consents to such use of his/her personal information.
